This story is too good not to share.

I have today off. Since I do and I happen to be an upstanding member of the Bishop wheeling community(it's really only me but whatever) I went to the White Mt FS office to inquire about the trail I plan on connecting.

I walked in with the USFS Topo Atlas open to the page with the trail I want to link. I will do my best to accurately paraphrase that interaction.

ME: "Who knows the Black Canyon trails better then anyone else in this region?"

FS Agent[Name redacted because of privacy]: "Well, that would be Stan but he's off today so I guess your stuck with me. So what do you want to know?"

ME: "There's this trail in the Whites out of Black Canyon that clearly connects to White Mt Rd. The problem is it hasn't been run in 15 years and there is a very large, very dead tree blocking the trail. Can I legally remove it?"

FS Agent[Name redacted because of pure fucking awesome response]: "Well, let me ask you a question, would anyone ever know?"

ME: "So your telling me it's legal?"

FS Agent[Name still redacted]: "I'm not telling you anything. I'm asking you a question."

ME: "I like how you think"

FS Agent after looking out the window at my rig: "Please come back and let me know how it went. I'm sure you will be able to get through, snow and all"

After a brief laugh, and a huge thanks, I headed out the door. Some people in the Bishop Field Office actually fucking get it. I feel very fortunate the I got to talk to one today. It's game on.

Haha that's badass! Very good "news"

For sure.

Now who's in?

I talked to @Hank he's out.

That leaves @Mike_taco4x4 @AssBurns and dare I say it @4runner DOA

As fucked up as this sounds I think @Mike_taco4x4 will be the one who shows up.

Stevens chasing electrical demons and Danny is just a lazy fuck who can't find time in his busy unemployed schedule to fix his rear locker.

So, this means I have to recruit from outside the usual sandbox. It's a chore to complete this link-up.

So, it's an open offer to anyone that wants to chop some firewood. lol

Hahah. I was in Palm springs for a week, so the rig didn't get worked on. Worked on the yard so Easter was nice. Barely got my new links done Saturday morning. I've got @Itaro sitting in my work spot until his rtv cures tomorrow afternoon and we can put gear oil in it. Then I can work on mine.

I think it has to be the injector. I tested them last time I had a misfire before Calico and they tested good. I’ll pull them and test them again. I have a few spares so it will be easy to just swap cylinder 3. I’m in Detroit until Wednesday night so I only have Thursday to get the injectors swapped. After Calico I did pour some Seafoam into the gas tank so maybe I dislodged some shit and clogged an injector. Idk but I’m trying my best to make it. I really want to go.

I guess rule 1 around here is don't be a douche. Take care of your rig and try not to bail. If you can't make it I understand. Me understanding is me not being a douche. I respect rule 1. I respect getting shit done more. Either way, the road will connect again.
I’ll try my best man. It’s really bumming me out because I haven’t had much time (fucking Easter wasted most of my weekend). Friday night I stayed up till midnight drinking beer with my cousin and swapped the coils with no luck on the misfire, then pulled the radiator swap it. On Sunday I was able to finish installing the new radiator and trans cooler, but ran out of time to pull the injectors to test. Now I’m in Detroit till Wednesday. Fuck me right?!

I guess it's a whole lot better then fucking you wrong.

Get your shit fixed and pay attention to the family.

I've always been a lone wolf and have no problem connecting the trail. It's gonna be about 4 hours of work to remove the tree. Another hour to find the line up the waterfall. Then about 6 hours to clear the trail to White Mt Rd. I'm actually better doing it solo. Then @4runner DOA can't question my beer intake. lol

Can't question the beer intake on local trips, we know you're going home to your wife and you have to sober when you show up.

I'm back bitches! I dropped off the face of the earth for a while there. Between trying to keep up with work and supporting the family, everything else got dropped.

As for this weekend, I'm out. I am back in California but my truck is still in Utah. all the small stuff I have been ignoring added up and the whole truck needs a once over and prep before it goes anywhere. Mostly have to build new skids, fix the sliders, and gusset everything because its all sorts of bent out of shape. With work taking so much of my time and traveling back and forth to utah to work on it... I'll be happy if the truck is ready to wheel again by June.

I will however, ride bitch with anyone of you glorious bastards.

If I make it, I’ll have a full vehicle with the wife and kids. I’m sure Matt will be fine with you in his vehicle. Might want to let him say yes first haha

No riding bitch. Just get your shit fixed. We still need to go finish Swansa/Cerro now that there's not 5 feet of snow in the way. I've also got a new schedule. My crew is working 4 10's. We are doing alternating 4 day weekends. So every other week I get 4 days off. Just in time for wheeling season. Stoked.

I hope you get that thing fixed man. Bummed you couldn't get up here and play but the trail will still be there when you are running again. The little waterfall after the dead tree is gonna be fun. It may end up being just little more technical then I may have led some to believe. lol

Do you have that reply on speed reply by now? lol

@theesotericone First of all, welcome back from your forum hiatus. What was it? 4 or 5 days? :flipoff: :peep:

Yeah I'm super bummed about missing this one. I was stoked for a solid exploring trip with some technical stuff mixed in. Unfortunately, it might take me a while to get the rig back up and running. (Depending on the issue). I know I have a head gasket issue, but still am not 100% convinced it's the cause of my misfire. I'll tinker with it some more before I commit to doing the heads.

That's not how that works. Now that you have a convenient place for it to sit around, procrastination sets in and you tear it apart and then it sits around for a week or 2 while you muster up the give a fuck to fix it before the next trip. :headwall:

Probably not. Kid has a birthday party on the 4th, and I'm about to drop a dumb amount of money on his own birthday party for his 10th. Hasn't had one since he was 1, and he won't have another one until he turns 18 and I kick him out. Hahah.
