Late March or early April should be good. Some of the snow's gotta melt for this to be fun.

@MonkeyProof I've never heard Silver Canyon to Wyman Canyon called the White Mtn Traverse. There is a a ski/hiking White Mountain Traverse but that actually traverses the range instead of cutting across it. I've done the trails you linked many times. It's fun but what I have in mind will be way more fun.
It's what all the locals in Bishop and Mammoth call it. You can head to the Eureka Sand Dunes by "going the back way" If you make a left on highway168 and then a right into a dirt road a few miles down.

I am in the area a lot and have heard it referred to that, Silver Canyon is awesome for finding wildlife especially big horns if you're lucky

You gonna make this trip? I promise you I will put you into an area of the Whites you have never been. The plan I'm cooking up involves Black Canyon to Ancient Bristlecone Scenic Byway(AKA White Mtn RD(AKA 4S01)). There will need to be a tree cleared to connect these again. From there up 4S01 to 5S01(Crooked Creek Research Station). Down 5S01 to 35E301. That goes into Dead Horse Meadow. One of the least most visited areas of the Whites. Probably because the roads been washed out and unmaintained for years. From there it connects into Wyman Canyon at Royal Gorge. Out Wyman to 168 and civilization.

I'd love to just depends on when, assuming it'll be later in the year due to snow which is better for me.

I think we determined late March or early April was best. I'd have to say late March or mid April works best for me. I may be going to visit a friend in OR early April.

Late April might end up being more realistic with the amount of snow we got recently. There's another storm hitting tomorrow and another one lined up for Fri-Sun.

It's looking that way. I did a pre-pre-run today just to have a look at the snow levels. Snow starts at about 6000'. At about 6500' it becomes constant on the trail from 6-12" deep. At 7500' it gets up to about 20" or so and that's where I turned around. The trial goes up to over 10000' so I'm betting it'll be at least a month before it's passable.
Cool. That'll be pretty good weather up there too in late April

How about the last weekend in April for this trip. That's April 27-28 for the calendar challenged in the group.

Snow should be mostly a non issue by then. If we hit some I'm pretty sure we're all capable enough to still get through. If anyone wants to come up Friday night you can crash at my house. It's about 7 miles north of the trailhead. The plan is still the same. Up Black Canyon, reconnect it to White Mt Rd. Down through Dead Horse Meadow and out Wyman Canyon. The lower part of Dead Horse will most likely be severely washed out with all the rain this year. It's just gonna add to the fun. lol

Tentative on whether we get my links done before hand. I ordered the wrong left hand joints and have to get them swapped first.

I'm leaving for the UK tomorrow and then have to go to New Orleans and Greece immediately after so I can't make this :( This is my crazy time for work but after May I'm open.
Enjoy New Orleans, stop off at Avery’s poboy on Tulane ave. That’s my homie Justin’s restaurant, safe travels.

Too many excuses. Mainly that I will be at Stagecoach that weekend. Are any of these trails easy access from Pleasant Valley or across the street at Millpond? I might be out there fishing the weekend of Memorial Day.

All work and no play makes Jack a wealthier man. lol

In @4runner DOA speak that's a can't make it. lol

Tons of stuff to access from there. You could hit the Tungstens then link into Buttermilk loop very easily. Just point it towards the Sierra.

Cool. It's gonna be a fun trip. It's also going to be the first opening day of fishing season that I missed in 10 years. Maybe we'll do it super fast and still get some fishing in. lol

It's really gonna depend on Steven's schedule. Obviously I have nothing but time once I have all the parts, which I do except the correct LH ends. I don't have the kid that weekend either.

I should be able to make this trip. I'll be in Michigan for work that Monday-Wednesday (April 22-24), so as long as I have my rig working, I should be able to pull this off. I'll probably still trailer it out, and park the trailer at your place if that's alright. I wouldn't be surprised if I get better MPG's towing that I do driving haha

You can park in front of my house for sure. It's gonna be a fun trip, I hope. lol

@4runner DOA Can you get @AssBurns a trailer queen banner please. Thanks.

Speaking of the core group. Where the fuck is @Hank ? This is the perfect trip for you man. There's almost no way you can break your driveshaft on these trails. lol
Cool beans! Pretty stoked for this if I can pull it off. @4runner DOA, lets plan a day for your links. When will you get the new CORRECT joints?

IDK what happened to Kyle. He said he had to take off to Utah for an emergency trip. No idea what that entailed though.
