First of all thank you very much to members of this for forum for ideas, and some from the place we no longer discuss...
Unlike other idiot snowflakes I have actually asked for, listened and learned from the older generation of wheelers. Specifically @Itaro and @4runner DOA have taught me a lot about wrenching on trucks, both of them have helped me very much with suspension work on both of my Tacomas. Again thank you, I appreciate all the support and knowledge.

Now some basics. Here are both of my shit boxes

04 2wd 2.7 precummer TacomaBeast edition. No I didn’t pay for that sticker, was a sponsor during a tw contest. And I was a little social media hoe.
Parents needed a truck for the family business so they bought this for me to start driving my senior year of high school. Had many a fun times in it. A lot of dumb stuff, broke shit, had 7 people in it, hauled hoes, got into off roading, brought me to TW and some of the guys on here. Got stuck a lot and eventually learned how to judge obstacles for the best line. A lot of skinny pedal. Eventually flattened both front shocks and a rear snapped in half hahaha.
Eventually got some icons, made things faster and dumber. I love that truck, great memories

The new to me shitbox

01 4x4, no e locker lameeeee. It was a trade in at the CarMax at work at, got it for a steal. I’ll do a post another time on that back story. Got it about a year ago, having 4x4 is fun. The 4 door is great for hauling around more people.... but I miss the longer bed. If it wasn’t for the shell then that short bed would be pretty useless to me
It’s a shit box but I like it. Swapped icons and solo UCAs from the precummer over to this. Recently added some Dakar leafs to it. Rides good so far, haven’t had a chance to really romp it and do anything dumb yet
Compared to the old truck, I’m a lot tamer when it comes to beating on the truck. Trying not to break as much shit on this one. Got plenty of ideas, wants, needs for it. That’ll be another future drunk post
Starting to sober up... time to make another drink!

One of the first things I did was get some PowerStop slotted and drilled rotors with pads. Old rotors were heavily gouged, and fucked up. Then had a couple friends over to do the suspension swap. Thank you very much Danny @4runner DOA for doing the Uppers, I’m still kinda clueless when it comes to those. Some of my other friends helped with shocks but if my drunk ass remembers right, they were of very little help. Think I was swapping shocks until 7pm hahahah worth it

I miss not having a shell :(
Back when the truck looked like a truck and nota suv... although I have ideas for that

Burning my skin and killing my liver in the jacuzzi tonight

What should I do with this beautiful turd guys? Been debating what the end goal if this truck should be. I haven’t used it much at all this year, thanks hernias. My regular offroad group has shifted from mostly trucks and 4x4s to mainly dirt bikes and 2wd full sizes hauling the toys and trailer.
I’m now the odd man out.

Should I build it up to go faster so I can keep up with the dirts?
Or toughen it up so I can hang with you guys and other crawlers? Lockers, regear..... maybe 35s If I’m naughty
Then there’s my logical side telling me to just fix the little things that are bugging me and enjoy it as is with the 33s for the rest of the year

Lockers would be cool, so would Long travel but not without a cage.
So many dumb ideas, I need a cheaper hobby

Get out and use it. Figure out what you have more fun doing. I like that my runner is a middle ground vehicle and that I can do a bit of everything. I like easy fast runs out to camp because I don't break things. I like hard trails because there's a bit of an adrenaline rush when you make it through an obstacle. You have the unfortunate disadvantage in that you don't even have a rear locker. That limits anything that requires pedal control and precision in rock situations.

all the toyota scrap yards will have that rear. is it the same as a 2nd gen or different? i remember looking for the factory e-locker when i had my tacoma sport and found at least 3 or 4 all around $900-$1200 depending on miles, condition and parts still attached.
