By now we have probably all seen the new Tesla Cybertruck that just debuted last week. I'm sure we all have our opinions on the aesthetics of thinks, but what do you think about the practicality and offroad capability of it?

Looks like there are a few options that will be available, ranging from 1-3 motors.

Single Motor: 2wd, 250 mile range, 0-60 mph <6.5 Sec, 7,500 lbs tow capacity
Dual Motor: AWD, 300+ mile range, 0-60 mph <4.5 sec, 10,000 lbs tow capacity
Tri Motor: AWD, 500+ mile range, 0-60 mph <2.9 sec, 14,000 lbs tow capacity

It has "bullet proof" stainless exterior body panels and glass. Now that doesn't seem all that practical, but it may be something worthwhile for offroad use. Stainless means scratched paint, and doors that resist denting on rocks. Could actually be something cool, but it comes at the expense of weight.

Not much info on the suspension besides it has air ride suspension. I'm going to assume it is IFS/IRS, but that's just an assumption at this point. It could have a solid rear axle like majority of modern trucks right now. I'd also assume it is a pretty complex dynamic air ride suspension to make it drive well. Not sure how that carries into offroad driving though. Might work pretty well in the rocks, but would it be any good at any sort of desert speeds for an extended period of time?

What is cool about it being electric is it has instant torque, so no need for mechanical gear reduction for increased torque. Another cool thing about it being electric motors, is you can probably "tune it" to have it "locked" (depending on how the drivetrain is configured). Might be able to just have it on some sort of a switch that enables the motors to spin at equal speeds as if things were locked. Could probably also tune it to have a "4-low" feel in the throttle so that you can ease on the throttle when crawling without launching over rocks like an ultra4 truck.

It also has a flat belly with 16" of ground clearance and comes stock with 35's. It's got 35* approach angle and 28* departure angle. I think the biggest limiting factor will probably be it's overall size. It's a full size truck so it probably has 150"+/- wheelbase.

Anyways. Seems like there is some cool stuff under that funky low quality graphics looking truck.

Just gonna be more shit build quality and broken promises from the country's most prolific welfare queen, Elon Musk.

The state of California will go into a blackout every night if these things sell.

California is trying to eliminate any energy usage outside of electric but they want homes to be self sufficient or energy zero or whatever they fucking call it.
another prime example of, we have a problem so now it’s up to the public to resolve it.

meanwhile California's grid is severely outdated and SoCal utilities are complaining about profit loses due to residential solar panels.

And now they're gonna try to advertise vehicles that pull 30A for 5-8 hours a night

Electric vehicles are such a joke. They a terrible answer to a question that's being asked.
"They're cleaner!"
Yeah, if you ignore what lithium mining does to the planet, and that NA's power grid is nearly 50% coal fired.

Just can't do it. No matter how cool they are on paper
