These bad boys run like 2k from total chaos. Wtf.

Back story...had a Titan. Ran dirt king stock width lcas. The biggest improvement was the delrin bushings over stock rubber. Those were also 1k at the time so wasn’t horrible.

Now, we have a 5th gen minivan. Kings all around. It hung with raptors in Baja. Mostly cause I drive balls to the wall and those guys didn’t wanna hurt their 80k trucks. But I want moar. And a +2 kit sounds awesome but for 11” of travel it’s too rich for this poor landscaper.

icon sells a mOdUlAr system. Less then 2k including secondary shocks. But it’s a skid plate thingy and I’d have to notch it to work with the Toyota special retard kdss sway bars (they’re actually fantastic)

total chaos has their arms that run 2k. But they look amazing (which is what matters) have secondary shock tabs, and bolt right up to the kdss sway bar.
Or...weld shock tabs to the oem lowers and upgrade the bushings to whiteline. Add the total chaos shock hoop.

Or is this all a waste for a yearly Week long trip to baja? Wife is hooked on it, camping and off-roading was dope

2 pics cause ya’ll are sluts for pics.

Get the tc arms with the secondary mount because you know you're just going to add another shock up there eventually. :gossip:

Or wait for a good deal. I don't know how many 5th gens are running lowers, but if you wait long enough that credit card bill is gonna be due. I've scored pretty good deals on uppers and lowers lately, but I'm basically running a Tacoma front end (spindles, uca/lca are Tacoma) so more options on the used market.

@Airdog has been running the secondary setup in the front for awhile. I'm actually buying it off him once his new LT shocks come in and throwing it on the 4runner. I'll be throwing my dirt king lowers on the Tacoma.

Besides secondary shock mounts, are there any benefits to aftermarket lowers?
Are the stock lowers known to crack or bend on these models?
Maybe you can convince @eimkeith to design a set of control arm reinforcements like he did for the 3rd gens.
Secondary shock would be pretty nice for sure!

Typically just stronger than stock. I wouldn't have the dirt king lowers if I didn't get a hell of a deal on them, but I have also bent a lca so I wanted a set for added strength. If I didn't have another vehicle to put them on, I'd sell them once I get @Airdog set up with secondary mount.

Uniballs, easier to replace bushings and overall durability I believe

The biggest benefit to the tc lowers are the bushings and secondary tabs already there. my opinion at least. Like I said in my previous experience the biggest benefit was the delrin bushings over the oem rubber shit thats always binding.

I wonder if he’d be down to sell them with upgraded bushings And the tabs installed. They also would have to be kdss specific as those lcas have a bracket for the sway bar
Idk if 5th gen arms bend but I don’t think many people wheel them very hard.

Honestly I barely even see 4th gen guys bend lcas, but I was using a cheap ebay set when I bent mine after a day of crawling. Fortunately I still had my oem so I refurbed those and slapped them back on. I'd take care of your spindles first though for sure, because I have seen bent spindles on a 5th gen.

We'll have to get his attention on this. He's got a lot of projects going on and not sure how popular they'd actually be in the 5th gen scene since most of those guys are all about the bling and bolt-ons. I'll text him on this to get his thoughts.

Yeah I picked up a set of non-OEM LCA's and cracked them first trip out. I've cracked some OEM ones too but they took a lot more abuse to do so. With the Eimkeith LCAR kit I doubt I'll be able to crack them again.

Thought I saw @eimkeith was already making lca gussets for the 4th gen, would probably work on the 5th gen.

Impossible since the spindles only go up and down ;)

Lolol at the spindle comment. “The upper doesn’t carry any weight”. I’m planning to gusset the spindle and add double shear mounts to the UCA. That ish is so sketchy as is. And cam tab kit from TC.

If he’s already doing 4th gen stuff it should all bolt up. But 5th gens have the option for kdss. So I’d have to get a set of lowers to him to modify. Sway bar mounts to lca vs on the spindle

Sorry, should have clarified. He's doing gussets for the 4th gen LCA, not the bushings or anything like that. It isn't that hard to swap out the bushings on the LCA. I did it with a bottle jack, but I don't think I've seen after market bushings for stock LCAs.

With the KDSS mounted to the LCA, is that affecting your travel any? I've never really looked at it or into it (because 5th gen) but seems to me that eventually that's going to be a limiting factor.

Sway bars don't limit travel. Only thing they do is to make it harder for the front suspension to articulate (one side up other side down). How much extra force is required is determined by the stiffness of the sway bar.
