So my dog had diarrhea Tuesday and a tiny bit since (hasn’t had much of an appetite) so I boiled some chicken and rice for her

She’s not a big fan of the rice but picked out all the chicken

Good looking Shepard. My daughter's Shepard is the same. Not a fan of rice either. Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks, she’s feeling more like herself now. Way better energy-wise. Now hopefully she doesn’t have the squirts

canned pumpkin filling from the grocery store, non-sweetened. Throw a couple of tablespoons on her food for a few days. scan your yard for poisonous anything and if her energy doesn't pick up after a meal or two, hit the vet ASAP. I know its a wait and see but stay on your toes, dogs are incredibly good at hiding pain and being hurt until its too late. been down this road. brown rice instead of white (extra goodness for the dogs) and sweet potato. stick to usual kibble for now or similar protien, drastic changes in a dogs diet can be dangerous and perptuate the problem. this isn't backyard owner advice, we own/handle/breed for preservation.

I was told by a PD dog trainer that fresh raw ground beef helps with puppy tummy’s
NO!!!! never give a dog raw anything if the dog is not on a raw diet! it hasn't been in the freezer for several weeks there could also be parasites. Beef in particular is harder to digest than chicken or pork. IF you want to migrate to raw, usually start on chicken for 2 weeks, pork/fish and then onto other proteins as the dogs can tolerate. and saying give that to a PUPPY? take the dog away from that asshat, no business handling a dog.

Thanks, she started acting like herself a few hours after the chicken so I’m playing the wait and see what comes out (literally).

I’ll probably do the pumpkin thing starting this evening

excellent. side note, you can give it continually, some older dogs have to have it to keep em regular and interested in their food. keep a can or two in the pantry.

I don’t give my dog raw meats.
But dude is puking his guts away as of last night.

Raw is fine, as long as the dogs can tolerate the food and its safe to consume. We did prey-model raw for awhile, did my own portioning, processing...its a lot of work. We use stellas frozen now and supplement depending on needs (coat, preggers, weight, etc). Puppies always start on kibble (purina pro plan is really good for us, and I am not a kibble fan AT ALL) and go from there. We were on Taste of the Wild, Orijen etc until the lentil fillers starting screwing with my mentor's litter sizes and weight gain. This DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) is pretty scary. Wait till all these Keto-lifers will get DCM and renal disease with all the proteins and bunk diets. New study shows a bacon and white claws rich diet gives your truck pep-boys cancer (all the tumor chromed plastic) and your friends an awakening to the depth-less douchness. **not you duckbutter, just you "anyone in general"

And she’s still got the squirts. Not eating her kibble. Going to try the pumpkin tonight
well, CRAP. hope she responds to the pumpkin. it sounds like more than just a bad case of the taco shits. she been around stagnant water? giardia is super common. all of her toys accounted for? I'm always afraid of the half-chewed bottle of chemical death lurking in a corner somewhere that I missed. The house is perpetually dog-proofed but shit still happens, heh.

What I’m suspecting is a combination of stress from the new puppy and water contamination. The puppy has a habit of sticking his foot into the water bowl

Lame. It's because those hills didn't burn down last year while the rest of southern California was on fire.

I guess. This one is a half mile away from the one just 2 weeks ago. Sounds like they have it boxed in already. Just not in the mood to deal with this again.
