I've been thinking about getting something like this, what I like to call "egg campers" and when I saw this, I was liking it, but then for THAT price, just not worth it... really neat, but yet not worth it.

Anyways, I saw other egg campers and one was like $40k ?! Hell, for that I would rather just invest in getting a small real camper RV and someone in the YT comments basically said the same thing, " for that amount of money that thing better come with a steering wheel and an engine..."

Like seriously, it's essentially just a box on wheels!!! These little egg shell style campers shouldn't cost more than $10k... TOPS!!! The bigger camper/trailers now I start to agree with higher price, but NOT these small portable egg style ones.

I just recently saw a YT video where those motorhomes like Tiffin as well as Lippert who makes components for the RV industry are poor quality with cracks, leaks, etc etc etc. Not just those specific companies mind you, but all of the other RV/motorhome industry companies as a whole.

My point being, just sad you pay good money these days for bad workmanship and build quality and/or it is just straight out overpriced for what it really is with regards to the little "egg campers".

I actually want to get an older 4runner so I can use it as a "camper" and have a special setup to where I can use it for when going out with my astronomy scopes. I envision my own little "mobile observatory".

My 2005 Civic is on its last leg. The engine runs just fine. The rest of it though is starting to finally just fall apart.

I want to get another "newer" Civic due to really good fuel economy, but having thoughts about investing in a 4runner as my "camper option" with at the same time, a little bit of actual off-road capability if need be for the more basic type trails that one would not want to take an actual RV on. For example, it'd be really idiotic to take an RV ALL THE WAY up Santiago Peak and that is a pretty basic fire road, but it does have some challenges in certain parts of that trail.

Anyways, that is my dream for a very basic camper setup, but yet with basic off-road capability.

So, I've been putting aside a certain amount of money each paycheck and this year and the following years I want to donate that money to buy food for Thanksgiving to the homeless.

My thing though, I want to make sure it is going to actual FOOD and not some pricks pocket!!!

I was first just going to buy the food myself and take it to the people who prep the food, but then thought that they would very likely turn me away due to possible tampering or whatever.

I just want to make sure and would like to see homeless people getting something to eat.

Any ideas on how to approach this in making sure it goes to food?

I did some quick calculations and a typical 20# turkey costs roughly $60 and I researched and you can feed about 15 to 20 people from a 20# turkey. I plan on helping with 5x turkeys along with your typical sides (i.e. biscuits, mashed potatoes, and maybe corn or string beans).

Approx total number of people that can be fed ~100x people
5x turkeys ~$300
enough sides to feed approx 100x people ~$200 possibly a little less or a little more

So roughly $500

I have somewhat of a very personal "relationship" when it comes to the homeless. NOT ALL are due to drugs I can assure you of that!!!

Anyways, thoughts/ideas are very much welcomed and appreciated!!!

Let me ask charity's mom. She does something like this once month. I'm sure she can help make sure it handed out to whom needs it and not in someone's pocket.

You might reach out to homeless shelters or soup kitchens leading up to thanksgiving. Find out who you can donate the food to directly vs just handing over money. I'm sure any number of places would be grateful for it.

And for the 4runner idea. You'll probably want at least a 4th gen for the space. I've slept comfortably in the back of mine and I'm 6'1", even with the fridge and gear tub taking up half the space. Pull the rear seats out and build a platform it's like a truck bed with a shell.

Yeah, I just wish "I" could just straight buy the food myself because then I know it went to actual food. But, I just know without a doubt they wouldn't accept some stranger brining turkeys not knowing if they've been tampered with to cause harm. I get it.

I only suggest the 4th gen for the space. It's wider and a tad longer than the 3rd gen. Would be a perfect base for hauling the telescope and sleeping inside with room to spare. Mpg in stock form is fairly good for the 4.0. I'd be surprised if you can find a 2.7 3rd gen honestly.

I was looking at the 4Runners in general and even the older ones are still fairly high up in price?

HAHAHA, people starting to not buy the newer models due to themselves being so high up in price.

After my truck gets fixed, going to take my Civic in to see if they can figure out my radiator issue problem? Very hard to explain in writing of what I am experiencing.

Either way, the Civic engine is running very well... just a radiator issue other than the rest of the car starting to take a toll on the constant wear and tear it gets.

My commute for about 8x months from OC to San Diego was pretty rough on the car and doing that 6x days per week... for 8x months straight and it being a 2005. Damn good car and would like to keep it if I can get the radiator issue fixed.

But yeah, I'll look at the 4th Gens too then. I was just wanting a 2.7l since my truck is a 2.7l is all.

I still have a LOT to do to the truck, but at least it will be RUNNING AGAIN!!!

My Civic SERIOUSLY needs a little rest. I'll be taking care of it in a few months when I have enough money saved up again to have a mechanic figure out the coolant issue I'm having.

The overflow tank is acting like the radiator tank, if that makes any sense? There is NO indication of a head gasket issue either? The engine is running pretty damn good. Still has really good acceleration too. Just the coolant issue I can't figure out???

The odd thing, the overflow tube keeps popping OFF??? I have to turn the heater (i.e. heater core) ON to keep the overflow tube from popping OFF the radiator? Again, if that makes any sense?

Anyways, I DOUBT it is a head gasket issue because I'm getting very good mpg's, no misfires, no smoke, really good acceleration response, etc etc etc. The engine is running just fine.

I guess I could do a compression test just to look into that part of it? Also, the last time I looked at the spark plugs, they had that typical "good burn" look to them.

My 2005 Civic is a BEAST!!! Still runs great other than my coolant issue stated above.

Yeah, it's like there is "pressure buildup" in the radiator causing the overflow tube to "pop OFF" the radiator???

Thanks for that input Danny. It does make sense.

I know one way to check the radiator flow is to simply let it run and feel if the upper radiator hose starts getting hot indicating coolant flow.

I hope it's not a water pump. I know that will cost about $1300, which I don't mind spending, just going to have to wait for a bit until I recover cash from fixing the truck.

You probably get an extra 0.1 MPG with the weight reduction. Could be a win.
