Hi All,

I've been lurking a variety of 4Runner forums for some time for technical information. I picked up this 4Runner bone stock and kind of crusty about 5 years ago and it's my first 4 wheel drive. Over time I've added parts and made small improvements here and there, mostly wrenching on it myself. I'm by no means an expert, but I figured I might as well post some sort of record of installed parts and share some of my experiences for the benefit of others.

Here is the truck 5 years ago shortly after it was purchased off someones grandpa for 3,500 canadian pesos. It was sold because he could no longer drive a manual, lucky me. Oh yeah, this SR5 was optioned with an e-locker, although it didn't work when I bought it. I've since replaced it with a working unit from a scrap yard.

Here it is today-ish (loaded with camping gear and parked on an incline) and many more canadian pesos later.

Parts that I've installed. I might have missed something.

General
285/75r16 255/85R16 (~33") Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx
Energy Suspension polyurethane body mounts
Fat Pat's 1" body lift (had to source my own bolts)
JBA cat back exhaust (the original was rusted off and was hanging on by coat hangers)

Front
Bilstein 5100 (BE5-D558-T0) (scrapyard find)
OME 882 (These are for a Toyota Tundra, currently at to bottom notch, ~3" lift, I think) (scrapyard find)
JBA UCAs (not sure if there is a functional difference vs SPCs but the design seems sound.)
XRF LBJs (They aren't OEM Toyota and made from melted down samurai swords, so I might die horribly)
Toyota LCAs
SPC camber bolts (old ones were seized, these ones have a PTFE/Teflon liner)
Durobump front dual durometer bump stops (Highly recommended)
Trail Gear 1" differential drop
EimKeith strut tower reinforcement (passenger side only)
EMPI Bates Porsche 930 CV boots (on rebooted Toyota CV axles)

Rear
Bilstien 5100 (33-187174)
OME 891 (~3" lift, I think) (scrapyard find)
EimKeith PCK (Highly recommended)
Durobump 3.5" dual durometer bump stops (Highly recommended)
Nolothane polyurethane panhard bar bushings
Nolothane polyurethane upper and lower rear control arm bushings
Sway bar removed (I think it should go back in and the front should be removed)
Trail Gear Trail Safe rear axle seals

Non-Suspension
Tundra 199mm 13we brake upgrade (To clear stock 16" wheels) (Have since swapped to OEM "5-star" wheels which apparently clear 13WL 231mm tundra rotors)
Optima Yellowtop Battery
Craigslist bumper painted tremclad black
Smittybilt gen2 XRC 9500lb winch w/ synthetic line (new)
Trail Gear Trail Safe rear axle seals

Body
Black SR5 flares from a scrapyard
Power antenna delete
Yakima roof rack

Interior
Auxbeam 8-gang lighting controller on 3D printed ashtray replacement bracket (Will post photos later)

To Install
EimKeith V12 rear bumper (complete with IFSFFS sticker)

Hope everyone is well wherever they are.

As for me in the new year I'm moving to a place with a garage and driveway. This is good because I currently don't have space to work on the truck, and with local pandemic restrictions I can't monopolize my friends driveways, or maybe by now they've just learned better.

Minor update. I bought a new set of tires LT255/85R16 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx and some used spray bombed OEM star pattern wheels. (still ~33"), it's amazing how much of my ride quality issues were attributed to old clapped out rubber, the previous set of Coopers I had bought used. I'll never do that again and won't recommend it. I also removed the busted power antenna and replaced it with a universal fit fixed antenna.

For upcoming projects I have an EIM Keith v12 rear bumper and a snorkel waiting for install.

Looking forward to installing these in the new year. I'm certainly going to have to learn some new skills to install the rear bumper as installation looks to be a little more complicated than I had anticipated.

Well I finally got Eim Keith's v12 bumper kit on and a installed my free Russian snorkel. Took a bunch of photos during assembly so I'll post them here later.

Had to flip the rear body mounts to make the v12 bumper clear my 1" body lift/energy suspension polyurethane body mount combo. When someone says ensure your rear stack height is 2.25" to 2.5", listen to them. I didn't, because the body lift was already on and I wasn't going to take it off. The higher flipped rear mounts is why there is an uneven gap between the bumper and the body. I'll likely be replacing my 1" body lift pucks with 1.25" ones and then flipping the rear mounts back to normal. Either that or I'll cut some additional spacers out of a sheet of UHMW polyethylene and stick them in there.

here are some photos of the bumper installed.

Despite needing to flip the rear mounts I think this is a great kit.

Trail Gear Trail Safe rear axle seals

so, just wondering, you mean there's even more lift in the front 5100's with them being on the lowest perch with that coil? or am I reading that wrong, was maybe wanting to pair this with some 861's and some longish travel bilsteins in the rear.
