Reviving an old thread here, but figured it would be worth keeping the content together. When performing a re-gear on a vehicle with a rear factory e-locker, if one were to replace it with an air locker, would the vehicle complain about it?

I like the simplicity of the e-locker with a simple push button and no need for a compressor, but I do understand it has shortcomings compared to an air locker.

When the time comes for a re-gear, I’d prefer the front and rear lockers match. Just because I’m like that. Piggly Wiggly parking lot won’t know the difference regardless.

The vehicle shouldn't complain. Most you'll need to do is throw a resistor into the OEM plug to shut a light up.

Should be nothing for the vehicle to complain about.
I would certainly wire up new switches for the ARBs so that you can control them at will and bypass all the nanny bs of the factory set up.

The harness had the rear locker switch power tied into the air compressor switch, and the front locker tied into the rear.

Interesting. I wired mine to the switch pro so I guess I never had to figure that shit out.

I modified shit too many times.
On the ARB twin they put the relays under the cover between the motors. And the connectors or the motor wiring was not waterproof. After a year sitting between the inner and out bed panels guess what corroded? Ended up putting the relays under the hood.

Yeah I had to replace one relay on the twin I got second hand for the same reasons. It's in the cargo bay of the runner. Little loud, but it stays clean and dry.

Definitely don't understand how ARB claims in can be out in the weather with the way it's built.
Or even how it's rated for continuous duty for that matter. I used large diameter tubing and high quality remote filters and I had a piston grenade on me after 5 or so years.

ARB has really gone down hill. I swapped out my 15 year old compressor and the new one's crank case was full of plastic shavings. Didn't even make one revolution.
