Should be nothing for the vehicle to complain about.Reviving an old thread here, but figured it would be worth keeping the content together. When performing a re-gear on a vehicle with a rear factory e-locker, if one were to replace it with an air locker, would the vehicle complain about it?
I like the simplicity of the e-locker with a simple push button and no need for a compressor, but I do understand it has shortcomings compared to an air locker.
When the time comes for a re-gear, I’d prefer the front and rear lockers match. Just because I’m like that. Piggly Wiggly parking lot won’t know the difference regardless.
Yeah, like being in 4L and speed limited…Should be nothing for the vehicle to complain about.
I would certainly wire up new switches for the ARBs so that you can control them at will and bypass all the nanny bs of the factory set up.
I redid the ARB harness because I want to make my own decisions.Yeah, like being in 4L and speed limited…
Interesting. I’d have figured they’d always be independent.I redid the ARB harness because I want to make my own decisions.
There are times when I want the front locker without the rear being locked.

The harness had the rear locker switch power tied into the air compressor switch, and the front locker tied into the rear.Interesting. I’d have figured they’d always be independent.

I modified shit too many times.Interesting. I wired mine to the switch pro so I guess I never had to figure that shit out.

On the ARB twin they put the relays under the cover between the motors. And the connectors or the motor wiring was not waterproof. After a year sitting between the inner and out bed panels guess what corroded? Ended up putting the relays under the hood.
Definitely don't understand how ARB claims in can be out in the weather with the way it's built.Yeah I had to replace one relay on the twin I got second hand for the same reasons. It's in the cargo bay of the runner. Little loud, but it stays clean and dry.
I ended up getting two Smittybilts. Cheap and now I have almost twice the CFM that I got with the twin ARB.If they don’t care what kind of air they use (ARB flavored air may be special), then I’ll start looking at Viair systems.
