Hey Guys!!! Check out my new 5th Gen 4runner Rear Bump stop. Toyota screwed the pooch in the design of the 5th gen 4runner by not properly aligning the OEM bump stop over the center of the axle tube. I know that may be hard to believe but have a look! The OEM bump stops sit forward the rear axle by 1". In-turn the Bump stops do not properly make contact. In addition to them not being properly aligned they are also hard as a rock and not the right size for our lifted trucks.

Horrible! I know!! We designed our 5th Gen Durobumps to correct the misalignment and offset our bump stop to the rear by 1". Our bump stops simply bolt on in the original OEM bump stop location. All our Durobumps are made with our exclusive blend of Dual Durometer rubber. Our bump stops work great in-town plowing the speed bumps at the mall and keeping the truck stable when the wife flies across another heavily crowned intersection. If you think your new "My Pillow" is soft, you haven't wheeled with Plastics Guy Durobumps...

There is simply nothing better available on the market today.

Agreed. At least for the 3rd gen.

Speaking of your great products, I know a few of use have asked for other things. I think you should start a thread dedicated to that. Ideas will help us get better rigs and in the long run they will hopefully put a little more dough in your pocket. Just a thought because my front end is shot and I need LCA bushings. I could go Whiteline or you could start that thread. lol

How the hell can we improve on the LCA Bushing?? Plus the Whitelines are so nice with the steel sleeve.

you got ideas??

Nope. My job is to tell you what I need. Your job is to make it. lol

If you think Whitelines are good I'd be fine with them. It's just a bushing but mine are beyond beat.

@Plastics Guy

I may need you to make an extension base for the 5.5" 3rd gen rear bumps for me. I just flexed them when I installed them. I never did a full suspension cycle with both wheels traveling up at the same time. Since my rig just got 35's I'm fully cycling everything to figure out what needs the cutting wheel. This is what I just found when evenly compressed:

dohLbSt.jpg

As you can hopefully see the shock is bottomed out and the bumps are barely engaged. I have custom length Kings so that may be part of my issue. Normally I wouldn't worry about since crawling is what I do. Recently though, I started hanging out with @AssBurns and I know I'll be forced to go fast to keep up with him. lol

So my question is:

How much compression should that 5.5" bump have before it bottoms out?
Once I know that I can make a spacer for it. Or preferably have you make one.

Thanks man.

Yup, its that extended length King Shock throwing things off a bit. Do me a quick favor and measure the height of the mounting base.

during crawling and while articulated with the weight of the truck on the bump stop they compress approximately .75" It varies by situation and truck weight of course, but thats a fair number for us to work with.

You know I got you on this and I will get you going. @AssBurns is a bad influence on many of us...

EDIT: Durobumps does not use spacers... I was caught in a weak moment and was not thinking clearly... the entire benefit of all of my products is they are all application specific. No Spacers, No Adapters, No B.S.

All at a fair price!!!

The mounting base is 3/4" high. I'm getting maybe 1/4" of engagement at this point. I'm fine with another 3/4" mounting base to stack it on. I don't mind loosing 1/4" of uptravel. Way better then bottoming out the Kings. #fvckking lol

I'm not sure what I was thinking in my previous statement... You must have caught me in a off moment.

WE DON'T USE NO STINKING SPACERS!!! DuroBumps are Bad Ass like that. We build application specific bump stops. Our good friend @theesotericone needs a taller bump stop. looks like its time to create a 3rd size to add to my existing 3.5" and 5.25"

So tell me more about this rear king and how its mounted...

Where do you want your rear axle to stop? flex/articulate the rear axle as high as you can with out any rubbing issues. then with a tape measure see what the gap or space is between the top of the axle tube and the frame rail where the bump stop mounts. With that info I will design a application specific bump stop.

Be sure to swing that axle to the opposing side and verify we have the same gap.

cant let my boys run around with spacers.... cant do it! Might as well give you a refund and send you to the competition for a spacer, lol...

Dude, just send me a spacer. lol

Since you're you I know that won't happen. The rear king has 3" more travel then the standard King. I also have OME 861's in the rear. Rear is currently at 24.5" center of hub to flare. The rigs still up on stands and will be for a while. I'll cycle full stuff tomorrow and get you the numbers you need. Or you could just send me another base. lol

Thanks man.

OK. I just stuffed both wheels.

When I contact your bumps I have 5/16th of an inch of shock showing.

When I fully bottom out the shock I have 5 5/8" to the frame rail. I have 4 5/8" of an inch from the rear shock mounting bracket.

As much as you want to make new bumps I don't know if you need to. Just send me two 3/4" spacers. I promise to glue them to the existing one and no one but you and me will ever know. lol

Let me know what you think of the math and we'll go from there.

OK. I'm back to the garage for an hour.
