That being said, 5x4.75 is common, think it's the same as the s10? Wheels should be easy to find if that's the case. Always was a fan of the simple rally style wheels. What's your area like for pick a parts? We have the Pomona swap meet here, kinda the creme de la creme of vintage/classic car swap meets.

Find forums for classic cars. Those are going to be your best resources for parts, ideas, and questions. Even better if you can find one dedicated to your specific model.

Yes sir I’m on those forums, but y’all have always been so cool to deal with that I figured I’d ask. Plus I only posted about the car here, cause safe spaces and all. This car will only ever be a driver. My dad did body/paint to 20 foot status and I’m more interested in driving this than showing her. Maybe 10 foot status, still just want to appreciate this fine classic. End dream is something that can go down the road safe, with a more modern feel. Not full pro tour, but in that direction. Budget for now is whatever I can beg, borrow or find. Two project vehicles is quite the juggling act and the life stuff just keeps getting in my way.

I mean its lucky that it already has the brakes converted
Everything else is fairly easy. Making sure every bushing and steering element is in safe condition should take a weekend, going over the electrical will take at least a couple days, more if it needs sorting out. Engine wise an iron 350 sbc is about as fool proof as it gets. Maybe check out the condition of the diff and trans and bump up the ponies in the motor, shit is easy to get it pushing 450hp. Then just collect trim. Always buy extra trim. Always.

My suggestion if you want a fully reliable driver is to get an insurance job truck from 2000-2010 or so, with the 6.0 gas and the 4l80 or the 6l90, and swap it. Don't get a half ton, it'll have a 4l60 and those shouldn't exist.

I'm a big believer in fuel injection. I'm a big believer in modern transmissions.

A ly6 with headers, an intake, and a tune will do 425hp. A 6l90 is FAR superior to any th350 known to man.

A donor truck up here with 100,000 miles on it is worth 800 bucks. The engine mounts will be all but the same. The trans mounts will be all but the same. It'll run like a top, it has a huge aftermarket, and it's made of iron.

Just my two cents, because I hate old ass autos and I hate carburetors. The 4l80 is an exception, as it's an evolution of the th400, and that was a decent old auto. Still sucked alotta power out.

I've been helping my neighbor work on his 62 (I think) Impala. All of his bushings were shot. Those were a real pain in the ass in the upper arms. Ball joints too. We had to drill out the original rivits, but the replacements came with bolts. He got it in a trade for labor and parts on a side job and it was already in really good shape though. When he got rear ended he got the paint completely redone on the whole car. I'm not as much a classic car guy as I am mechanically inclined. Think he gets most of his info off Google.
