I worry about those aluminum lowers personally. Seems like a bad place to try to save a little weight.

They seem pretty beefy. The raptor and 1 ton GM trucks seem to be holding up.

@eimkeith needs to make some skids for those lower shock bolts though. Those will get tore up or ripped off in no time.

I was nerding out over this earlier, the way the frame notches around the "coilovers" leaves a lot of room for ideas and growth. Glad it comes with this suspension though. Don't see a sway bar back there either.
guess larger coilovers are out of the question.
seems short sighted to limit shock width running it that close to the frame imo

Seems like larger shocks are definitely doable with that setup. Did you see the pics of the rear coilovers? The shock is a 2" shock, but the coil diameter is wide as fuck. Seems like width wise it could easily fit a 2.5" coilover in there. Now getting a 12" -16" coilover might not fit without cutting the frame , but they definitely left a lot of room for shocks compared to any other vehicle I've seen on the market.

can you cut and weld newer Ford frames? I didn't think so - HSS, right?

ohh nos. bolt on all the things.

I would imagine that the spring would accommodate whatever the biggest factory shock is available. The shock cover is probably 3" wide, that's good.

Look at the lower 1/3 of the rear coilover. A traditional race style King/ Fox coilover comes way further down near the bottom mounting point. I don’t know how you’d fit an aftermarket one in there without reinventing the wheel on their design.

also, HSS means no repairs, straight to the recycler. you can fix a bend but once the temper is gone, it's over.

From the side the bronco looks like an Escape or other suv. 1 out 10 will never see dirt in first 5years, like most off road vehicles sold. They don’t get the good wheeling till the value goes down.

Idk what HSS means, but there is always ways to make things work.

Well same way 2nd gen Tacoma’s have a super long rod end on the front coilovers to make the coil clear the CV axle. I’m sure someone can easily make something work by either modifying the Coilover or modifying the mounts, or a combo of both.
