Over all a great weekend out. Broke in the front end. It did great! Very pleased all around and found some new problems to fix. I'm still getting a stutter in the brakes when they are hot. I'm losing coolant somewhere which is causing a overheating issue obviously. And I need new door seals...........

Swampy carpet?
Easiest way to diagnose bad door seals

Well not so much a swampy carpet as much as a swimming pool haha I'm missing like 2" of the bottom of my seal on the driver side. So when I was in the river up to my hood it was just pouring in.

I had that same problem a few years ago when we ran the Mojave. Ended up with about a 1/2" of water. Just took it home and dried it out. Haha

It's going on this. And bought her a gfc yesterday. Install date of aug 25th. Big thanks to Mike (at gfc) for just scheduling me for install when I wanted. We are headed up to Montana for like 13 days ish for camping with him so he kinda wanted us to get installed before we hit the woods. 1653174711386230263029349176013.jpg

One day of welding, two days of grinding and wire wheeling.

Been there. With a 110v flux core machine.
That's what I'm using. Got the swing outs built yesterday. I'm doing the bumper portion right now. Wife will be driving around a fucked up truck for a week or so. Hopefully get the grinding done over the next 2 days then off to powder coat.

Also have one of my buddies from work that use to weld for sdhq coming over with his machine to lay down some better welds for me on the bumper. Trading some work as I'm better at wiring than him so going to wire up some new toys on his razor as he welds for me.

The welding part isn’t what sucks, it’s the grinding afterwards and prep for welding and painting that sucks!
I just got my 4XI bumper yesterday. I had to clean clean all the oil off it, break all the corners from being razors and peel off a shipping label that was glued with space glue - then shoot with self etching primer.
Truth! Especially with my welds in the beginning of this project. I haven't welded in the better part of 8 ish years give or take.
This is why I am hesitant to order a DIY rear with swing out... plus all the time and lack of space.

I did my coastal offroad front, and later ordered a 4xi rear. If you consider time is money, the WIY kit was more expensive.

I've heard those coastal bumpers are miserable to finish. So much welding and grinding that it just ends up not being worth it in the end one you consider time and effort.

Yeah it's definitely a project. Will I do another one? Probably not. I am glad I am doing this one tho. Didn't get as far yesterday as I wanted. The wife came down and helped with a bunch of grinding. All in all this isn't terrible yet. But definitely going to be a couple late nights this week.
