I've got about 55k on my front wheel bearings and I'm pretty sure at least one is going out but there's no play yet. Just a vibration. I know there used to be a couple guys on tw and T4R selling assembled kits but I don't frequent either one of those forums these days. No press so I can't built my own.

I googled around and saw a few dudes selling sets, but figured I'd check here first for trusted sites first.

Danny I believe this is the guy that was selling them on T4R. I’ve had this on my watch page for a few years now. I will be doing mine when I get my shocks rebuilt.

I found this too, same price so probably the same guy but I'd rather go through eBay for the buyer protection.

OH, good thing you have a personal connection with him. I tried to use him some two years ago, waited over two months, he stopped communicating, had to charge it back. I recommended his services to a guy from PA TW some time before that. He went through similar situation in shorter amount of time , but I figured that Pa guy was just impatient, and kinda blamed it on Amazon 2day shipping effect. So, I wouldn't recommend Kev, unless you're his friend, or whatever.

Edit. Maybe he has changed tho, so ymmv

I used another dude from TW. He might be using quality bearings, but hubs themselves, just generic ones. It was a pita to reinstall CVs into the hubs, and later major pita again to remove it when I replaced the oil seal. Not even sure he does T4r hubs, that's why I kept quiet.

99% positive the hubs are the same on 4th/5th gens and 2nd gen tacos.

Got these, they showed up today. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll still need the rear knuckle seals. I think the guys from tw/T4R used to include those seals but it's been awhile so I don't even remember.

Anyone know the knuckle seal part #? I have one, I just can't get to it because of the office build. I piled everything in front of that cabinet. :anon:

For anyone wanting to swap out just the bearing and retain their hub to save money, watch my video. It is a bit of a pain in the ass, because one of the bearing races usually stays on the hub shaft, but it can be removed with the correct tools and technique.

I built a jig for doing it on my press.
I just buy the assembly now because it's faster and not much more expensive

The reason why they aren't much more expensive is they are usually using Dorman hubs paired with different quality bearings. I think a lot of guys choose the better bearing, like from Koyo, and get the Dorman hub. If you actually got an assembly with a Toyota hub, the price tag would go way up. The name Dorman doesn't usually make me think of quality. It's usually a name associated with cheap and affordable parts. Will the Dorman hubs hold up? I'm guessing they probably will. I'm just pointing out there's a reason why these assemblies are affordable.

Considering the things we do, and the size of the tires most of us run, the bearing is more likely to fail before the hub. I've got 50k on my bearings and I'm 99% sure one is failing. If one is failing I'm sure the other side isn't far behind. 300 bucks over 50k miles of hard running I'm not worried about it. Even at the peak of my wheeling this rig I was only doing 8-10k/year. It's a lot less now and it's a dedicated rig so it sits more than it moves. I'll be surprised if I do 6k miles in the next year.

The will hold up for Danny. His Runner is just going to sit on the grass for another 2 to 4 years. Lol.

#Facts.

Working on this pile. If the weather is as wet as they think it's gonna be again, I'd like the runner moving and the Lexus parked even if just around town. I let my mom use the taco sometimes too when the weather is really bad so her car doesn't get swamped, but that doesn't work if I need to go somewhere. So I *need* two vehicles off the ground sometimes. This is the year I rejuvenate this bitch and the wheeling passion. Too much shit the last two years, I need dirt therapy.
