Looking to get some 255/80R17 tires. I was gonna get the Falken Wildpeak AT3's but they seem to have a limited supply right now. I like the tall/skinny tires for this application so I was digging around for other tires in the size range and I stumbled across the 33 x 10.50 R17 Goodyear MT/R's for only a little more than the Toyo Open Country's. I love that tire on my other rig. Super grippy and never had any issues. Plus it just looks great IMO. They just aren't very quiet and don't balance that well. Do I really even care about that shit? Idk

IMO skinny 33s are the way to go for a mild build. Ran km2s on the runner for awhile and the 255s weren't nearly as loud as the 315s were.

I ran the 255 KM2’s as well and they were a great tire if you wanted to keep stock wheels and not run spacers to clear the UCA’s. Plus were quiet for a mud terrain and seemed to balance well. Last Goodyear MT/R I ran was early 2000’s when the tread pattern looked like Toyo muds still so I can’t compare the two directly.

Think I still have a basic single din head unit that I pulled out of the Jetta if you want it. No bluetooth, but has an aux input. I prefer having bluetooth on my stereos for phone calls and music these days otherwise I would have just left it in the Jetta.

Yeah I like having bluetooth as well. Nice for when my wife has her phone plugged in but I want to control the tunes.

I have a spare, but it isn't full size. It's like a 31". I'll eventually get a matching one, but I need to get another 17" wheel first. Trying to maintain a low budget so my wife doesn't yell at me for spending more money lol. Still need to finish the back yard that I've been telling her I'd get done for a while.

You went with another mutli-mode? Probably worth it for the resale value in the future but fuck those things. J-Shift for life. lol
Agreed. I'd rather have a mechanical t-case over an electronic one anyday!
Two reasons why I'm planning to stick with the multi-mode:
  1. I can pick it up tonight and have it installed this weekend. (Much easier than getting the case from you and getting my driveshafts from my truck in Sac.)
  2. Keeps the system "stock" so it should help the resale value like you said.
I'm just hoping that it doesn't shit the bed on me like this current one did and my last one did. Rolling the dice for now.

I have a 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappler with 0 miles that needs a home.

I've been pretty good at saving money lately. And since I didn't buy shocks or seats for the BeerRunner, I just reallocated those funds to this project lol.
IDK what he paid for it but if he keeps it mainly stockish, and doesn't wheel with Andy, Kyle or me, he'll sell it for a profit in SoCal.
That's the plan! If I can get all the cookie cutter stuff done to it, and get it running right, I should be able to make a profit in this market. The tires are going to be the thing that kills the budget the most. I could've gotten used tires but I specifically wanted some skinny 33's, which are not as easy to come by on the used/resale market. Even if I lose a little money on this project it will be worth having it so I can get out and do some wheeling.

If I knew I may have considered, but I really wanted the skinny 33's. Less rotating mass, and more clearance without spacers or fender trimming.

Another thing I think I might do since the BeerRunner will be down for so long is take the diffs from that rig and put them in here. They are already regeared to 5.29's, still has the stock e-locker, and front has an ARB. That gear ratio would be pretty sweet with 33's. @theesotericone, you enjoyed that combo when you had it.

I sure did. It was so much fun to drive. With the skinny 33's being way lighter then my 295's it's going to be even better.
