OK. Since we all made it out of last years Dusy run in mostly one piece we're doing it again. The we last year was:

@Tetten
@Mike_taco4x4
@rkntoy
@AssBurns
And me.

We've all talked about doing it again and others on the site have expressed interest. This will be the place to talk about it and get the plan firmed up.

The Dusy usually opens by the first week of August. The weather is good from Aug-Sept. Last year we ran it Aug 15th - 19th. This year there's been some talk of taking an entire week. So adding in the weekends that could be 9 potential days of wheeling. There's other trails close by that are also hard but much shorter. I think a lot of the original group plans to hit these after the Dusy. Swamp Lake, Coyote, and Mirror Lake are all very close.

A little about the trail. It's long and it is hard. Expect to break and have the parts and skills to fix it. We will have a no vehicle left behind policy but come with a proper rig. Don't be that guy.

Minimum requirements for the trail:

Driving skills.
Wrench skills.
Winch skills.
Hi-Lift skills.
Locked.
Armored.
35's(I did it last year so why not?)

Most of us on this site understand what the Dusy is. These are the guys I'm looking to hear from. Who's in and what dates will work. Once we figure out who is really going we can figure out the logistics a little better.

Roll Call:

I’m in! Put in the dates for me to plan to take off and I’m all in! I’m good with any week. It’s too far out for me to know whether I’ll be busy with work or not, so I’ll jusr plan for whatever week works best for the rest of you. Last year was great weather the whole trip. I could definitely use some more of that.

For those of you that want to see how our trip last year went, check out the trip report here.

:thumbsup:

Should change that tire/locker requirement to "long wheel bases need 35s and double locked." that other group I talked about last time had a rear locked 2nd gen Tacoma on 33s and it sounded like our time on the trail was comically easier than theirs.

Are there really enough other people that want to go to have to make 2 groups?

In any case I'll just drive ahead of everyone and you'll find me stuck or waiting at camp. :deadbanana:

If you come, the group is going to need to conduct an intervention for your gas pedal smashing inclinations, do that on Dusy and you'll be towed out the rest of the way or back out to the entrance. :flipoff:

Well played. :anon:

I won't attempt dusy until I've got another 3 trails under my belt at the minimum. Should have my locker fixed in a couple weeks then I need to address my rear axle position and front rubbing.

I thought about making it 35 and double locked. Most guys will fall into that category anyway though. I made it on 33's but the dual cases helped a lot. I also broke a lot of CV's. Will see if this run is different.

We'll see how much interest there is but it seems there will be more then just the five of us this go. Any pics of you getting hung up between that tree and rock? It's still one of my favorite memories of that trip. Coming up on you I thought you where just waiting for us. Nope. lol

Your added to the roll call list.

Full-size-able?
Buggy-able and useful?

It's a small wheel base trail but 2 of the guys in last years group had long ass Taco's. They made it with all body panels still attached. Dented but attached. lol

I'm Curious and obviously don't know shit. Couldn't pull this rock and put it under the passenger wheel to keep from leaning into the tree?

His steering was completely locked. We did stack under that tire and winch but didn't work. We used hi lift on front then straightened wheels

Wow his steering was locked at that? I've only had/seen that happen on off camber extreme angles. That really doesn't look that bad but obviously I wasn't there. Stuff like that is what I worry about because I see my driver side going up the boulder and just crushing my passenger door/roof/panel on the tree. I don't mind ripping panels off, but I still need to be able to open my doors. For now. Haha.

That rock is a hell of a lot bigger then you think. lol

Yep. He was completely pinched. You look at the first photo and think "just drive out". You had to be there to realize what was really going on. What a perfect trap to slide into. lol

For sure. It doesn't look bad, but it's good to hear why it was.

Couldn't go forward because the driver side tire would rise, tilt the cab towards the tree and crush the side view mirror
Couldnt reverse since the passenger tire would hit the tree
Couldnt turn the steering since the passenger tire was hitting the tree and during the stupidity I locked my front end making the whole thing worse, and could only move an inch or 2 forward/reverse which isn't enough to unlock the front
