Im not really into rushing through a bunch of hard trails like andy and matt are. I like to relax too. So if its gonna be a trip where we want to finish dusy in 2 days count me out.
Already got your excuse locked down eh? Matt and I don't rush through trails, we're just that smooth while we're rolling.....kind of like when you and I did poison spider/golden spike/gold bar rim, we didn't rush that and did it way quicker than other people.

Technically we finished it in 8hr. :spy:

Its not as bad as most people say. It is hard and it does have a lot of optional stuff, but if you know how to crawl you can easily do it in a single day without even trying.

We actually slowed down a little half way through after we realized we were going to finish it no problem that day.

still planning on this sometime mid September.

Early September might be the way to go. Do you want to include Fordyce or should we just do Coyote again instead? If we include Fordyce we need to do it last. We also need to include a wrench day before it to make sure our rigs can make it.

Hopefully as long as me and Matt don't wheel 4 times in 3 months his wife probably won't be super pissed about 1 extended trip.

@Mike_taco4x4 is a lost cause

As long as I don't shock load the hell out of my truck a week before the trip I should be OK.

But yeah still planning on this sometime mid September.

You don't call, you don't write, then you want to schedule something 9 months out? How about call me and let's wheel sooner. Although I did see in the other thread that your 4 link isn't even finished yet so there is that. lol

I'm not holding my breath for you to make it this year.

Shouldn't you be writing up an Occtillo Wells damage report? I know you broke a bunch of shit and I'm waiting patiently to make fun of you. So what broke? lol

I need to start planning time off - see how much time I have left after wedding stuff. May have to skip Trail Jamboree.

Nothing broke that I am aware of. I was fully expecting to break something while being out there for 5 days. Some things are in need of maintenance though. Steering rack bushings need to be replaced. I was able to feel it being a little mushy in the steering. UCA bushings need to be replaced (I've had the replacements for a couple months now. Just been lazy.) I need to clean my steering pump screen. I am starting to hear it whine under load. Might add a small cooler to it too. Front shocks are toast. I need to get some replacements before KOH. Head gasket issue is slowly getting worse. Still doesn't overheat, but I do lose coolant into cyl #3 and exhaust manifold. Tie rods might need to be replaced (gotta inspect those while replacing the steering rack bushings)

Wedding stuff? Are you mormon? I thought I already met your wife when I visited? :boink:

I can only handle one. The rifle cleaning didn't scare the suitor away from my daughter...

My steering should be better than new in a bit - new rack, reinforced u clamp, my custom bracket, new Solo Motorsports arms.

I'm down to make it this year if it's Dusy-Ershim and Rubicon. I haven't done enough research yet to know if my Tundra will get through Fordyce.

I doubt your truck would be able to get through Dusy-Ershim, even if it's physically possible to fit it through all of the pinch points, it's going to come out the other end looking like a crumpled aluminum can.

Every single 2nd gen Tacoma I know of that's done Dusy hit body panels at least once, most came out with body panels dents that would need serious body work to fix. A full size truck with long travel would probably end up with every body panel damaged.

It should be able to make it through Rubicon and fordyce

end of Febuary is my goal to have the truck ready to go tear it up for the next few months. The list is getting shorter. Once it's ready for weekend fun, i'll text you and lets do some weekend trips in march and april.

I've done the short first part to Voyager Rock once but stopped because the gate was closed. I had a bed back then. I don't anymore, which has allowed me much more room for pivoting without worrying. Here's my Tundra today (photo from a few weeks ago)..

I've done trails all over the southwest, Dusy ershim is different than every other trail I've ever been on. A lot of trails have "pinch" obstacles...... Dusy ershim doesn't have "pinch" obstacles...... the entire 30 miles is a "pinch" obstacle for larger vehicles. 2nd gen Tacomas spend the entire trail weaving through trees where they are less than 12" from a body panel..... This goes on for 30miles. In the 6 miles that we ran before I blew out my front end there were multiple places I was rubbing both tires on the same axle at the same time. The width of my truck on the outside of the wheels is around 85" IIRC. If you are anywhere close to 90" you're going to have serious issues and literally might not fit through some of the trees.

Well, shit.. my truck's right around 91" (+2.5 LT & 1" wheel spacers) and that's just at the outer edge of the tire touching pavement.

The body is only ~5.5" wider than a 2005+ Tacoma though.
