Don't know why but for some reason I was thinking u were relocating the start batt to a new home outside of the engine bay
Maybe some day I will, but this approach seems less aggressive to start and we will see how it goes

Putting a smaller light weight battery in stock location with a second in the rear.
Most just relocate start battery when going duals.
I'm curious to see a schematic for dual batteries in the rear when running a winch up front. Seems like more wiring than what I'm looking at sans the isolator, maybe.

All charging

Heavy enough cabling from rear batteries to isolator, run winch off post on isolator.
Issue is heavy ass gauge cable due to circuit length. Bonus would be the ability to power winch from both batteries.

Bigger than 2/0?

And, wouldn't you lose the separation of start and house if wiring to winch off both batteries, or do you need 2 isolators?

Looking at shunt based voltage meter gauges too monitor both batteries (state of charge, current draw, voltage, etc) and am leaning towards this 350A round gauge

It is 2 1/16" and will fit in an A pillar gauge mount, either in an AutoMeter aingle
This one is black and will need to be painted to match the interior

Or a Lotek dual gauge pod already oak colored to match my interior, but requires removing the a pillar grab handle

Was thinking of using the self jump start feature.
My winch control box is on a switch. Run a relay off of that switch to enable the jump start mode so that both batteries are in parallel whilst winching.
With the winch that far away from the battery you would be looking at 4/0 with probably a 5% voltage drop. Not exactly ideal. Double 4/0 leads would be better, but cost and weight become factors.

That makes sense

Regarding winch switches, dash mounted switch or external cable switch or both?

I have a Warn Zeon Platinum. The solenoid had an on/off switch that I removed and now use a console mounted switch in it's stead. It basically kills the power to the solenoid unless closed. Not familiar with your Ramsey but I believe your solenoid is live at all times.

Something like this?
WARN 62132 Power Interrupt Kit with Battery Lead, Hardware, Solenoid, Switch and Wiring https://a.co/d/bDs2hyX

I have to figure out where to put the XRC solenoid/switch box and was thinking about separating the components, potentially exposing them to the elements inside my bumper. A solenoid like the Warn one will allow me to power the winch only when needed, reducing risk.

Thanks for the recommendation/ idea!
