More clocked case stuff got done today - I hit the shop early to test fit the second prototype in the truck, cut the shift rail on the spare case, and figured out the shift lever relocation:

(I have a 1.25” body lift)

- now I just need to draw up my coupler spacer (I'm going to use a .25" spacing ring to recenter it between the two splined shafts) and get quotes on the shift lever adapter and the coupler spacer, then we'll see if this is actually viable.

This is so damn awesome!

I wonder how much modification would need to be done to the design to fit 2nd gen taco, FJ, 4th gen T4R. One adapter for all models would be pretty sweet. Things should be pretty close since the trans was shared between the early 4th gen 4runners/ 1st gen Tundras with the 1st gen Tacoma & 3rd gen T4R.

I'll definitely look into that after I do the first run of these (my head is about to fall off as it is!)

Mine doesn't really hang down that much below the frame. I'd have to redo my cross members and exhaust if I wanted to go any flatter.

I'm redoing ALL that stuff. everything is getting tucked. :)

also, it looks like your exhaust already has its own flat belly...

Stock flat belly exhaust. Not sure if that gets replaced on a cat back system or not.

How's smooth is the t-case shift with the offset on there? Offsetting like that has to create less leverage at the case and put more stress on the offset plate.

I won’t really know until I make a couple and try it. It should behave the same as a bent lever would, with the exception of wanting to twist the relatively flat plane of the adapter - which is why I went 1/4” and kept it kinda wide...

Exactly. Will that weld on the stock shift lever to the adapter hold over repeated uses? These cases aren't hard to shift but it does take some force. Assuming that shaft is close to 1/2" that's 1 1/2" circumference of weld. I guess that should be plenty strong but you welder guys know this shit better then I do. lol

It’s not much different. My shifter sits a little lower than stock with the way I did the extension to relocate it, and it’s still not bad at all.

I don’t think it’s going to be an issue, however I’m going to get my fabricator buddy to TIG mine for me vs. me MIG welding it - although a good chamfer on the lever and decent mig pass should be just fine.

Let’s see it.
I was a little worried about it not clearing the trans tunnel, so I made sure it sat low. Works fine, but I’d rather it be a little taller and not as far forward. Throwing it into 4lo feels like I have to reach way forward. Obviously I have no plans to redo it within the next few months, but if I were to pull the case again, I’d clock it back a little to be more like stock.

Well, if welding up @Tetten tie rod with a wrench held I'm sure that will too. lol

Great! since you have a further span to get back to the stock location, if yours works well I’m sure my shorter offset will be fine.

Question for @eimkeith

- I seen this potentially being an issue for those of us who have a twin-stick transfer case. Obviously it would take a lot of cutting and welding 1/2 rod to get two shifters to work (if it's even possible. The Front Range Offroad crossmember being T-case mounted obviously helps eliminate the stock crossmember and it allows you the opportunity to tuck the driveline a bit more. If I was to try to clock the t-case with your ring and then cut and re-weld the FROR crossmember to work at the clocked angle, would a clocked case even work with the twin-sticks? (I love having 2wd low in the factory case). I am playing with the idea of a triple-case because reasons. Anyone have a reason to tell me why it's a bad idea?
