Yeah I don’t have enough time for that right now. Maybe down the line. Well not maybe, but somewhere down the line.

If I knew better I would have prepared for the extent of this project a little better.
I should have located driveshafts first, so I’m not stressed about finding a set or getting mine retubed before Tuesday. I went to the junkyard this morning and didn’t find the ones I needed.
I still don’t have the seals I need for the adapter, so I can’t bolt up the case or get the shifter in. Should be here Monday.
I probably need to move my fuel filter. Should be easy, but just something else.

I knew I was going to have to notch the floor but I didn’t realize it was under the seat brackets. That just added more work and time drilling out the spot welds and making new brackets.

This shit better be worth it. I don’t got time for this shit lol

I got one already. I put the internals from the 23 spline case into the case with the clocking ring.

Yeah, I saw that. I was saying I have spare driveshafts. lol

Did you put the syncro keys back in the case or just leave them on the work bench?

Well I didn’t think about that. I still need to figure out the driveshafts. Maybe I’ll make the drive up there lol

So the internals of each case were slightly different. One had the synchro keys on the hi/lo shift collar, and the other had it only on the 2/4wd shift collar.
I just put it back together how I found it.

i like where this is going! i cant wait to see if with a crawlbox in it too someday!

just a warning, if your curious, when you get really aggressive with it, you will feel the case slap the bottom of the floor lol mine does and it freaked me out at first, now i just dont care at all

so I've been working on this; but I need to source a +1/2" 23 spine coupler. Anyone have ideas (or industry contacts)? I've reached out to Advance and a fellow on Pirate that was making them in his day job - but no luck so far. It's pretty much the missing link to moving forward with this project.

Incidentally, I rotated so it just clears the crossmember I'm working on for the 1st gen Tacoma/ 3rd gen 4Runner - and it clears the floor on my 1.25" B-Lifted 4Runner by over .25 inch.

Coming way late to this party, but how bad do these things leak?

I'm reminded of my aviation buddies: we don't worry about airplanes that leak, we know they still have fluid in them.

talking about the budbuilt clocked cases?

Oh yeah, it’s gonna have some self clearancing going on forsure! I already cut the holes in the floor and patched it but it’s still pretty much touching everything under the floor. If I finally get around to doing poly body mounts and poly trans mount, it should lessen things a little but pretty low on the priority list lol.

What do you have on yours? Inchworm clockable adapter or one of these bud built rings?

The seal doesn’t even ride on the shaft with the clocking ring. It ends up at the dip between the output shaft and coupler. You have to space the seal so it actually rides on the shaft in the correct spot.

Im running the very leaky inchworm clockable stuff. front case not clocked at all, and then rear case clocked flat

Does the inchworm stuff do anything about the seal?

his leak is going to be between the reduction box and the tcase, if I'm not mistaken? apparently those clockable adapters had leak issues

mine is leaking in between the transmission, and reduction box, on the reduction box side. had it out and resealed 3 times, changing things each time and it makes it couple weeks before leaking again. its bad enough everytime that you can watch it seep out at the seem there. now i just add oil when they case sounds loud and call it good for awhile. back when i cared about it more, and i called them about it, they made it sound like it was really common for them to leak right there

You would think they would figure out how to fix that shit after awhile. Can you drain it, clean the fuck out of it, and reseal it with rtv? Or is it an internal seal that you can't rtv?

ive tried caring a lot, and very little when resealing it with nothing working. the last time we took it all apart, cleaned everything way more than i normally do, let dry, i always use toyota rtv, let it sit before adding oil and it still leaks. i see now that they dont list it on lowrange's website, which makes sense to me why, or i just cant find it anymore.

i can tell you that putting it on the outside like it was caulking does not work to seal it either lol

damn - doesn't that have an aluminum tube that relocates the seal?

yea it does! it leaks from the mating surface of the reduction case to the transmission adapter though. so the other side where that tube is
