Haha horny details
Well then...
We got out to Ocotillo Wells Friday night and decided to do the table thing Saturday for lunch. I picked up a couple bags of concrete, and a bucket with a lid. My pops brought a digging bar, post hole digger, measuring tape, and level. We strapped the tools and table to our friends roof rack, brother grabbed the concrete, I grabbed the water bucket, and pops had the small tools.
Around 1pm we took off with our immediate group of about 5 rigs, and hit up our other buddies on the radio to let them know we were heading up there.
Our immediate group got up there and got straight to work. Since my dad used to put fence up WAY back in the day, we let him dig the hole and do the concrete and just helped carry everything to the spot about 10 yards away from where we parked. Once we got the hole dug and decided on height, we put the first half bag of concrete, some water, second half, more water, etc.. until both bags of concrete were in there. We double checked that it was all level and called it good.
Once that was done, we lit up a bag of charcoal and got the BBQ fired up. It was a little windy so we used some flat rocks on the front of the BBQ opening to block some wind to keep the coals going. Just about then our buddies with about 5 rigs showed up as we were putting on the first batch of hot dogs, brats and hot links. Those went pretty quickly and we threw on some burgers, more hot links, and sausages. We probably cooked over 30 dogs and 10 burgers for everyone and didn’t have any leftovers that I know of.
We hung out up there on the hill for around 2 hours in total from the time we got there to the time we packed up and left. With all of us hanging out and BSing, we had quite a few beers and a real good time hanging out. My buddy’s dad works for Fox and they are involved with Dust Junkies Racing, so we put a few stickers on the table to get the sticker game started. We also left some cooking tools up there that were on the BBQ when we pulled it out of my parents backyard when they moved in to their house. That way someone can use them (or steal them. We bring our own anyways)
Good times up there for sure! Maybe next time we might make a bench or something to sit on. Who knows.
