Oh I was really close this time on buying a green one. Then I couldn’t find a deal I was happy with. Then I realized I rarely shot because of ammo availability (it’s getting a little better). So the urge is gone again while I focus on other things
Just do it already. Get the green one and the scald works mount. I have the red and Larue QD mount. I regret not getting the scald works mount because it’s fresh as fuck. I still might get it because fuck it that’s why. I want a green Trij MRO as well. My offer still stands if you wan to buy my set up. Lol.

Here’s some California bullshit:

So a workaround to California’s assault weapons laws is a thing called a Kali Key. Long story short it is a BCG and a charging handle that doesn’t allow the gas system to cycle the bolt. The gas key doesn’t meet with the gas tube and vents the gas downward instead. The charging handle is shorter and mates with the back end of the gas key. This effectively turns the firearm into a bolt action.

But the thing costs over $100 and I thought that’s kinda bullshit to pay that much to neuter a gun to abide by a stupid law SO I got a spare gas key, angle grinder and did this. The gas key is too short to meet with the gas tube. The top is cut open so any gas that does go back to the BCG wont cycle the bolt. Add on an adjustable gas block that’s completely closed and this no longer functions as a semi-auto

I know. It’s disgusting the things we have to do to not get arrested

On the plus side the original gas key and an Allen wrench is all you need to be fully functioning

At first I was thinking fuck all that but then I kept reading and that’s brilliant. My other work around would be a plugged gas block. Standard $10 gas block with some jbweld in the gas hole. No gas no charge action. Man the things you guys have to do in commiefornia for a constitutional right is insane.

You’re telling me brother. What I want is for this to be easily reversible because gunsmithing is still not illegal in commiefornia.

You need to go tune that baby with a regular bolt carrier then close the gas block and swap the carrier to what you got there. Remember the gas setting for ready on the go action.

So here’s a SMH moment. I put together a lower that used the aero style set screw pin for the bolt catch but I didn’t have said pin so I threw a normal roll pin in there just to complete it.

Then I found the aero pin but the lower is set up in a way that you can’t drive the pin out. My OCD wouldn’t let me just leave it alone so I ended up drilling out the pin using a 6” long 5/64” cobalt drill bit without boogering the threads.

Great success. New pin still threads in

Okay, who’s got a AR-9, PCC, EPC, or equivalent? Been doing some research and it seems simple, just no standardized way of incorporating LRHBO

So update: looks like there’s two main ways of getting LRBHO on an AR-9. The mechanism is either in the upper or the lower.

Upper receivers with the mechanism seem to be from new frontier armory (and it seems Aero made an agreement with them to use it for their uppers). Cool part of the new frontier armory one is it’s got a side charging handle.

Lower receivers with LRBHO include Spikes and AAO. Spike’s mechanism is a bit more intrusive into the upper so it will work with an standard upper but won’t with foxtrot mike’s upper that also has a side charging handle

And that concludes today’s dive into the PCC rabbit hole
