Shouldn't be difficult to do that. Just cut and tap, or cut and weld in a bung. Find some misalignment spacers that are the correct diameter and width (or close enough to modify easily. You just need spacers, not high misalignment spacers, so they should be relatively easy to find/make.

Excellent thanks! I'll start diving more into this then. I think I'm enjoying my rig (and IFS more) when I'm not fighting problems.

It's not at all hard, assuming that the UCAs you have use a relatively standard size tube, so you can buy a weld-in threaded bung.

And yes, your understanding is exactly right. If you want to go really crazy: measure the thread pitch on the heim joint, and measure the arm. Then you can calculate how many turns you need to hit the alignment spec you want.

Sweet, yeah I'll have to go measure it then and take my time. Hopefully I've figured out how not to have such crappy welds by now. =)

Glad top see you are starting to enjoy the IFS again. For a while there, you were a little frustrated with all the IFS issues you were having.

Yeah breaking stuff wasn't fun. I also ordered some eimkeith LLS and these cam eliminators. I wonder if I should wait for the Marlin Crawler kit or just order the total chaos cam tabs. Next time you head up to big bear, let me know I'd like to get up there.

Where are you from? I'll reach out next time I'm up there. :beerscheers:
The Marlin kit looks great but what are the lead times for them? Next summer? lol You could always weld a bead behind the cam tabs to hold you over till the Marlin kit comes available.

Down in San Diego (ocean beach).

Yeah no clue about the lead times of the marlin crawler kit.

So I caved.... ordered eimkeith LCA reinforcements today as well. (That was a pricey upgrade!)

So here's what I'm thinking female heim joint -> lock nut -> turnbuckle jack screw -> welded bung on UCA. Someone correct me if this is a bad idea but I'd imagine you could actually align the vehicle much easier this way since the UCA is adjustable to various lengths. Otherwise i'd imagine doing an alignment would be vary laborious.

That would be a nice solution.

Because you're right, a male heim joint UCA is a bitch to align.

Now I'm questioning whether it'll actually work that way though.

Screwing/unscrewing the turnbuckle would just go in and out between the two threaded parts. So I think its back to the drawing board or just a laborious alignment. Which might just be for the best given that a heim joint -> bung is simple.

I think the only reason it possibly couldn't work is there might not be enough length on the tube to have a female heim and a turnbuckle. all crammed in there.
I really like my SPC uppers. Lots of adjust-ability and they are sealed which is awesome for wear. They also have more misalignment than uniballs, and super easy to adjust. I plan to reuse them when I build my long travel.

Might be easier to just buy SPC uppers and sell the Built Right UCAs. Probably would come out about even anyways with cutting the ends off and putting heim joints on and alignment time.

Rough driving long distances with a vehicle out of alignment.

you've got about 6" to play with there. It would be tight.

yeah I decided to move away from that idea. Just deciding on whether to cut my UCA uniballs to do heims or just swap to SPCs. I see the merits of both. Uniballs are stronger and such but SPC will allow for much easier alignments. Either way I'll be out of some money to do either. I haven't had any real problems with firestone doing my alignment and i've got a lifetime alignment with them so it would be nice to be able to keep cashing out on that.

I've gotten my money out of Firestone, but it'll be nice to not knock my alignment out damned near every time I go wheeling.

That's how I feel. Its not terrible to knock it out of alignment locally but driving back from Moab was much worse than the drive there. Having a vehicle that just drives like it should makes the vehicle feel so much tighter and not wearing out your tires as quick. I'm also tired of spending my time getting the vehicle aligned as well.

The firestone alignment thing makes me want to go SPC uppers since I think they'll still align the vehicle, not so sure with the heim joint uppers. Haven't had a single issue with my BR UCAs though. My major thing is how much caster/camber are people getting out of the SPCs with these eliminator kits? Saw one guy on T4R who had some really crappy caster numbers but it seems like he wants to stick to the G setting as much as possible. (trying to push the wheel forward i guess?)

went with SPC UCAs so I'll be selling the built rights in the near future. I'm sure someone will pick them up off me on T4R.org or etc. Looking forward to aligning this sucker, smashing rocks and keeping it aligned until something breaks!

Yeah people try to do that to clear bigger tires without tubbing. It's just the lazy way to ineffectively make room for bigger tires. I have mine at the B or C setting I think. I wanted more caster out of it.

You made the right decision IMO. I tell my friends that heims are for race cars, not daily driver off road trucks. I did just buy all the parts for heim steering, so don't listen to me too much. Mine is far from a daily driver now though.
