I'm doing my swap right not as well and could use a few pointers.
First off, I've got a 2000 SR5, the manual is out of my donor truck, a 2000 Tacoma, and I have the right matching ecu.
By all I have read, it should be mostly plug and play for me to use the auto harness out of my own truck.
But, I can't seem to find any wiring diagrams to double check (also have no idea how to read them but eh.)
Couple questions though:
How would I go about wiring up the extra connectors that are not in the auto harness?
Afaik, its just the clutch switch and the clutch start cancel circuit. No idea how either of those work.

Sorry I haven't been online, been back at school and that's consumed my life again.

I didn't use a manual ECU, but from what I recall reading, swapping in the manual ECU to use with the auto wiring harness required repinning the plugs - and I'm not sure that I ever found a good diagram to do by. Unfortunately, Toyota changed wiring colors literally every fucking year.

If it helps at all, the way that the clutch switches are, and you were to retain the auto ECU, the clutch release switch would be wired in with the Drive wire, while the clutch depress switch would be wired in with the Neutral wire, thus requiring you to push the clutch in to start it, killing cruise control when you push the clutch in, etc. I didn't end up using my Clutch Start Cancel Switch because I wired it up differently, but it would be my understanding to run the Clutch Start Cancel Switch in a parallel circuit with the clutch depress switch, also connected to the neutral wire. I could be a wrong on that one, but it's my best guess.

EDIT: Pardon sleepy brain, I just woke up.

Since you're using the auto wiring harness, you're going to have to wire up the clutch switches like I mentioned. Or you could do what I did, and leave the clutch depress switch out of the circuit entirely and just leave neutral connected up at all times, and wire drive up with the clutch release switch. With my auto ECU, it lights up both Neutral and Drive on the dashboard but the ECU doesn't have any issues with that. Shit, when I put it in Reverse and let the clutch out, I've got Reverse, Neutral, and Drive lit. It's amusing.

Feel free to shoot me a message on instagram if you're still having issues, or just to shoot the shit.

Hey there, I have a 2nd with a 3.slow 5sp manual with no issues but every time I’m driving 75 and the rpms are at 3000 I wish I could just grab one more gear. I know the 2006 tundras with the 1grfe came with a 6sp manual. Does anyone know how hard it would be to swap one in? Has anyone done it? I know I would probably need a new drive shaft and I’m guessing some kind of adapter plate for the trans to the 3.slow I would love to hear your thoughts!!
