I switched from 16s to 17s last year for partly the same reason. Couldn't be happier with my C load Wildpeaks. My brother runs the Toyos on his Taco and they seem at least equally great.

I'm not sure where exactly you live, but I can't recommend Craigslist enough. I've gotten my wheels and tires for silly prices there. Scored my adjustable 2.5" rear Icon shocks for cheap through a guy on IG too. The deals are out there, you just need the free time to find them!

Dang, that KDSS switch is sweet. That system has always puzzled me, not sure how I feel about it, but that solution really seems like the best of both worlds.
