For those of you running Ultragauges or Scangauges in a '96-02 4Runner or '96-00 Taco, have a look at our new line of a-pillar mounts to hold your gauge securely right where you want it.

No velcro, tape, or suction cups, just solid heavy gauge steel brackets that will stand up to anything. And no need to drill new holes in your truck, since the make use of the a-pillar screw. Finished in flat black powder coat.

Guilty! But you know you need to know all the cool data that it can display, right? Like gallons to empty, my favorite one of all, given our crappy fuel gauges :D.

Haha in my situation some of those features won't work. I have a relocated fuel tank so, the fuel gauge won't be any benefit. I'd just like to keep track of things like trans temp, engine temp, and read codes on the fly. I usually keep my OBDII reader in the 4runner, but sometimes I use it for my other vehicles and it doesn't make its way back every time.

Ah, but it will work, even with the relocated/different tank! You tell the gauge your tank capacity during initial setup, and then it measures fuel consumption based on injector firings, nothing to do with actual fuel level. Then you calibrate it after one fill up, and it will nail the gallons remaining to within about 0.1 gal.

And of course you get all the other cool stuff like temps, LTFT, etc, as well as reading and clearing codes at your fingertips :).

That's neat... now if only that worked for an 01 taco too :boink:

I might try to make one that fits both the 2nd gen taco and the late 1st gen taco (01). To be honest, demand for late 1st gen taco items has been pretty low, so I hesitate to make things just for that vehicle if they require a large initial investment, like these brackets do :(.

So how does the gauge know that the tank has been filled up? My sending unit and fuel pump is not connected to any of the stock wiring. It's all on its own wire harnesses and separate gauge.

You have to tell it :). When you fill up, you hit a few buttons to tell it that you filled up, and it'll reset the "gallons remaining" to whatever capacity you specified, and start counting down from there.

It's a bit more of a nuisance than with newer cars that know when you filled up, but it's way better than going by the factory fuel gauge.

Well shit, that is something I should definitely look more into. Something is messed up on my new fuel gauge. Not sure if its the sending unit, wiring, or the gauge itself. I've been a little pre-occupied with other stuff to figure it out.

If you did it I'm betting wiring. You do electrical about as well as I do welding. lol

This is facts. I don't know why, but I just really dislike electrical work. I think it's because I don't get a ton of satisfaction with it being done well like I do with welding/fabricating. Kyle came over a few weeks ago and cleaned up some electrical for me. I still have a few more things that I'd like to clean up under the hood, but I'll wait until after Dusy to get that stuff buttoned up.

That is SICK Leon!!! :thumbsup::beerscheers:

Plus, I agree, knowing LTFT and STFT are some of the most helpful data points to monitor!!! :thumbsup:

I take my OBDII reader when I go out on the trails and such. Other than that, it's in my storage unit until I need it.

Allllllllthough, there are times where I will monitor engine data just to see the condition of my truck and/or honda.

But yeah, I do the same... :thumbsup::beerscheers:
