I can do WHATEVER that weekend. I just know I want to go wheeling. Only limitations is it needs to be somewhere cooler, and not more than 4 hours away.

Any chance you can get Friday off? I'll have it off almost for certain. Once I find out what my wife's friends actually want to do I'll be able to plan better but it sounds like they want to camp. There's a tom of wheeling and camping around here. I'm out Saturday though cause I'll be fishing. lol

I’m sure it won’t be that hard to get Friday off. I can almost take whenever I want off but I gotta make sure I have my job is done first. Hard to tell in advance, but more then likely I can.

Get it done. You are bringing the family aren't you? And you'll be towing I would guess?

I highly doubt I would take the truck on this trip. Wheeling out there would have to be a standone trip outside of a planned fishing trip.

I also want to get the truck street legal (smogged, registered, etc.)

No worries man. The fishing on Saturday may have to be pushed back. I'm trying to manage a few things but I promise I will fish with you at South Lake sometime over that weekend. It's my favorite drive to lake in the state.

@AssBurns Looks like my wife's friends want to hang out and camp "offroad" on Saturday. He's got a Taco with a camper shell but he is not very experienced with actual wheeling. So we'll figure out something that works for everyone. Plan A would be you get off Friday. Get up here and we hit Black Canyon. Camp up there Friday night. Wheel wherever we want Saturday then head back to meet them and camp somewhere. I'll talk to Izzy about how comfortable he is going over things other then fire roads. lol

Sounds like South Lake got filled back up? Its been quite a while since I've been up there but the last time I think Sabrina and South Lake were almost empty.

I'm betting a lot of places have a shit ton of water right now and the snow is still melting. I was reading an article that said the rivers and streams are gonna be raging this year.

It get filled up with the winter of 17. But yeah, it was low from 2013-2017. In 2016 I was able to walk down the outlet tube. That's normally under 60 feet of water. lol

Takes a lot of snow to fill those lakes. Also doesn't matter how much water there is if the dams are still open.

Cool, I had been up there a couple times over that span. Was disappointing to see them empty.

Yeah if I’m driving that far I’ll likely be towing.

I’m totally down to do anything whether it’s just light wheeling and good camping or hard wheeling and whatever camping. I’m just stoked to get out and wheel again. Let me know the plans so I can plan accordingly. Will we be near that one trail you’ve been meaning to take us on?

I'm pretty sure we can do both. We will be doing Black Canyon so bring a chainsaw or we might be able to get really creative with snatch blocks and winches.

Minor issue with Memorial Day weekend. I don't think it will effect anything but wanted to give you the heads up. Because of lost time at work this week I'm going to make it up next Friday. That would put me home by 1ish. So, if you do decide to take Friday off, don't leave super early. lol

You still never answered if the whole family will be with you? Or is the Mrs. still deciding?

Honestly haven't even talked to her about it yet. I wanted to make sure I make it past this weekend before I commit. I'll talk to her tonight when I get home.

You say that as if it is a bad thing. He can take his fishing poles and stop on the way to cast out and kill some time. There are a couple spots down by Manzanar that I stop at and usually have some luck.
